SAXBY Akvavit is a handmade Nordic alcoholic drink that stands out for its unique combination of flavors and artisanal quality. This aquavit comes from Estonia and is inspired by a traditional Nordic recipe, and is produced at the Moe Distillery.
Color: Light green with a slight yellowish tint
Aroma: Intense aroma with salinity, notes of seaweed and caraway bread
Taste: Sweet and bready, with distinct notes of cumin and a hint of seaweed that adds a distinct saltiness. Fresh dill appears in the aftertaste
Finish: Smooth, with lingering notes of dill and algae.
Historical origin: The name SAXBY Akvavit comes from the Saxby lighthouse on the island of Vormsi, which is the westernmost peak of Estonia. The seaweed for this aquavit was collected from around the island, which gives the drink an authentic local character.
Production process: This aquavit is made from 100% Estonian grain and matured in French oak barrels, with the finish taking place in American oak barrels, which contributes to its complex taste.
