Ron Medellín 12yo Gran Reserva is a premium Colombian rum that matures for 12 years in American oak barrels located at an altitude of approximately 1,500 meters above sea level.
This maturation process in a cooler environment contributes to less alcohol evaporation, resulting in a smoother flavor.
The flavor profile of this rum is rich and complex. The nose is dominated by notes of vanilla, caramel, cinnamon, and citrus, with some reviewers also noting hints of dampness, reminiscent of the smell of wet clothes left in the washing machine for a long time.
Sweet and astringent flavors emerge on the tongue with hints of vanilla, oak and spice. The finish is long and warm.
