Old Pulteney is distilled at the Pulteney Distillery in Wick, founded in 1826. The distillery is renowned for its whiskeys with a distinct maritime character, reflecting its coastal location.
It is the result of a double maturation, first in American oak bourbon casks and then in Spanish Oloroso sherry casks. This maturation process enriches the whiskey with complex fruity and spicy notes that perfectly complement its marine character.
Aroma : Fresh fruity notes of yellow apples, oranges and peaches, with hints of honeycomb and vanilla cream. A subtle saltiness is present but not overpowering, complemented by sweet lemons and light chalk notes.
Taste : Full and expressive, with notes of sweet citrus fruits and creamy vanilla. Spicy notes of black pepper and ginger gradually emerge, along with the subtle sweetness of brown sugar, nutty notes and subtle saltiness. You can also find subtle hints of chocolate.
Aftertaste : Medium long, spicy and salty, balanced by creamy notes and fresh oak
