All Octomore .1 editions are distilled from 100% Scottish barley. They are primarily matured only in ex-American oak, in varying percentages of ex-bourbon or ex-Tennessee whiskey barrels.
Acting as the backbone of each new series, the Octomore .1 releases demonstrate the raw character of Octomore's pure spirit, balanced by the modest influence of ex-American whiskey – and offer the necessary juxtaposition from which the other expressions rotate.
After five years of aging in first-fill ex-American oak barrels, Head Distiller offered a unique twist to the 13.1 when he collected and distilled the spirit in 2021 into even fresher, full-fill ex-American oak barrels.
This final injection of flavor, derived from the interaction between spirit and oak, offers additional flavors of dark caramel, coconut and vanilla.
