Anty Gin is a unique gin that comes from Great Britain and is created in collaboration between Cambridge Distillery and Nordic Food Lab. This gin is the first in the world to be made from insects, namely red forest ants (Formica rufa). Each bottle contains the essence of approximately 62 ants, along with hand-picked botanical ingredients such as juniper, wild wood avens and nettle.
Ants give gin its unique citrus flavor, which comes from the formic acid these ants secrete as a defense mechanism. This gin was developed to open people's eyes to the possibilities of using insects as a source of food and flavor and also to explore the culinary potential of insects.
Anty Gin is known not only for its unusual composition, but also for its high quality. Each bottle is hand-labeled using a 1924 typewriter, giving the gin an authentic, artisan look. This gin was awarded "World's Most Innovative Alcohol" at the World Beverage Innovation Awards in 2015 and also won a double gold medal at the China Wine and Spirits Awards in 2021.
